Corolla Wild Horse Fund

Our mission statement:

To protect, conserve, and responsibly manage the herd of Corolla wild horses (Bankers) roaming freely on the northernmost Currituck Outer Banks, and to promote the continued preservation of this land as a permanent sanctuary for horses designated as the State Horse and defined as a cultural treasure by the state of North Carolina.

Outer Banks Hotline

Founded in 1980, Outer Banks Hotline is a private nonprofit serving Dare County and the surrounding Outer Banks, providing immediate safety, compassionate support, and trusted guidance to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Our mission is to protect, restore, and empower survivors by offering help when it’s hardest to ask and hope when it’s needed most.

Hotline provides a 24/7 crisis response line, survivor-centered case management led by trained advocates, and emergency shelter staffed around the clock. Our team works alongside individuals and families to create personalized paths toward safety, stability, and healing.

Through crisis intervention, outreach, education, and advocacy, we envision an inclusive community free from interpersonal violence – where all people are safe, supported, and valued.

To help sustain this work, Hotline operates five community thrift stores across the Outer Banks, with proceeds directly supporting survivor services and programs.
